Would Have Voted for Hawkins if . . .

Post-Standard Letter

Driscoll was best choice; now work must continue

I certainly don't speak for everyone, but I'd like to tell you why I voted for Mayor Driscoll. If I had thought for one second that Howie Hawkins had a chance of winning, he probably would've gotten my vote. While a few of his ideas were a bit over the top, the majority of them were right on!

While I believe in developing the areas around Carousel mall, I don't believe one man should have the monopoly on it. Many other businessmen might have more sensible plans that don't require 30 years of tax breaks.

Mayor Driscoll may not be against Destiny USA like Mr. Hawkins and I am, but at least he's trying his best to look out for all Syracusans by holding Mr. Congel to his original plans.

I know there were many issues in this campaign and I've only touched on a few of them but Mayor Driscoll and Howie Hawkins aren't all that far apart.

Building on some of their ideas while continuing his vision for the city can only make Syracuse a better place to live.

Good luck, Mayor Driscoll!
