Post-Standard Letter
To the Editor:
In our present fact-strangling culture of spin and counter-spin, Howie Hawkins' ideas, proposed during his campaign, struck me as bold and refreshing. Promoting the concept that the average person can be more than just a consumer, those economic ideas did not come across as mere throwaway campaign lines, but rather, the sincere representation of an alternative vision - a vision at least as lucid as anything being articulated by the promoters of Destiny.
Agree or disagree, Hawkins showed the courage to think outside the status quo. Although I live far outside the city, and am therefore not directly affected, Syracuse and its issues still loom large. Thank you, Mr. Hawkins, for bringing these ideas to a larger audience.
