GMO labelling and Monsanto

I'm writing you today under the assumption that you support a healthy environment, healthy humans and access to healthy wholesome food - and that you DON'T appreciate large corporations controlling our food supply and corrupting our democracy.

The Green Party of New York is a member of the GMO Free NY coalition, working to empower New Yorkers to get Assembly Bill A3525 and Senate Bill S3835 which mandate the labeling of GMO foods sold for retail in NYS - passed by 2014. Please take a minute to visit the GMO Free NY website to learn more about this exciting this campaign!

Here are three actions you can take this weekend in celebration of World Food Day:

1) March Against Monsanto!

2) Participate in street outreach in support of GMO labeling.

3) Sign and share the GMO Labeling petition.

1) March Against Monsanto! The Greens will join food justice advocates this Saturday at 1:30 in Columbus Circle, downtown Syracuse. It's an opportunity to learn about how you can help get GMO labeling passed in New York and how we can work together to promote healthy organic foods and resist the corporate takeover of our food systems. Not in Syracuse? Find a March Against Monsanto near you here.  And here the Facebook invitation to the Syracuse March Against Monsanto

2) Participate in street outreach in support of GMO labeling before the March Against Monsanto. Meet at the Center for Peace and Social Justice 2013 E. Genesee St. at 11amRSVP here. Greens and allies will circulate the GMO labeling petition in city neighborhoods while letting voters know about our citywide slate of candidates.

3) Sign and share the GMO Labeling petition. You can sign and share the petition on the Syracuse Greens website and you can also download the paper petition some of us in Syracuse have been circulating. It's a great opportunity to engage your friends and family in the issue of GMO labeling - and a great way to connect with individuals who may want to be part of this statewide campaign. Download the petition here - and if you have any questions, don't hesitate
to contact me, [email protected]

Please take time to learn about the importance of GMO labeling by visiting GMO Free NY - hope to see you in the street on Saturday!

As a political party we work to establish political action based on cooperation, rather than exploitation, on conservation rather than consumption, and on sustainability rather than short-term gain. We believe in an alternative, independent politics.
