We, the undersigned, believe that poverty hurts our city and our neighborhoods. Good jobs are the building blocks of vibrant neighborhoods. Therefore, we urge the Syracuse Common Council to pass a Resident Employment Ordinance requiring that, when the city contracts for construction, service and public works projects over $100,000, at least 20% of the contracted work hours go to Syracuse residents, and half of those hours go to city residents of stressed neighborhoods.
Upon passage of a Resident Employment Ordinance, we must urge the Mayor to sign this ordinance and ensure that the law is implemented. This petition is a project of the Urban Jobs Task Force.

Hello, I am interested in getting involved with the Green Party and environmental/social activist groups in Syracuse. I am currently a graduate student at SUNY ESF and I am looking for a part-time job or paid internship.

All projects under or over $100,000 should be reserved for Syracuse or Onondaga County residents.

I volunteer for the Faith Hope Community Center on the Southside. The founders as well as a Board Member wrote some Common Councilors to request a meeting about this issue. Our letter went unanswered.
